Absolutely Rasberry Pi beginner here. Is it possible to use Rasberry Pi as web server for storing and retrieving photos from an external hard drive or will it be too slow?

Christian, I've closed this question because it does not address a specific issue and the activity received shows that it will not result in constructive answers. However, if you want to talk more about the Raspberry Pi and your experiments, there is usually someone in Raspberry Pi Chat :). –  Jivings Dec 2 '12 at 19:35

Yes. It can do that - the specifications of the Pi is roughly that of a 10-15 year old desktop computer. –  Thorbjørn Ravn Andersen Dec 2 '12 at 23:17

Sure, the speed between the hard drive and the PI won't be a problem as I think the problem will may be the upload rate. Just try and tell us ;-)
