I'm not sure if I'm being stupid, but I can't seem to get the hash symbol to get recognised on my Raspberry Pi when using my Mac keyboard.

I've gone through all the set ups under dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration:

Keyboard model: Apple Aluminium Keyboard (ISO) Layout: English (UK) - Engligh (UK, Macintosh) Key to function as AltGr: I've tried both default and 'Right Alt (AltGr)'

Any suggestions would be grand, otherwise I'm going to have to stop using VNC, buy a monitor and a new keyboard. BOOO!!!

It's very possible that the program you use to VNC to the RPi is the culprit. What program do you use to connect to your RPi and also what VNC program do you use on your RPi? – Vincent P Dec 10 '12 at 5:07
I believe I"m using the tightvncserver on the RPi and the standard "Connect to server" option on the iMac. Would this impact how the keyboard responds? – John S Fentiman Dec 18 '12 at 22:21
Can you type a hash normally? IE: In terminal? – Vincent P Dec 19 '12 at 10:00
