Raspberry Pi Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for users and developers of hardware and software for Raspberry Pi. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I have been using the standard WPA Supplicant (WiFi Config GUI) that comes stock with Rasbian. It works really well and has been able to get me on to a wireless network really fast.

Now, I want to do some more complex things with the wireless and would like to use Wicd. I sudo apt-get install wicd-gtk wicd-curses. It installs fine. Then when I configure it to a specific wireless network, it takes like a 1.5 minutes to "connect", whereas WPA Supplicant takes around 2 seconds.

Why is this? Is there anything I can do to speed this up? I don't really know how to debug this so let me know where I should be looking or if you would like me to run any tests.
