Raspberry Pi Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for users and developers of hardware and software for Raspberry Pi. It's 100% free, no registration required.

My Raspberry Pi is in a bit of a state at the moment and I wanted to refresh it to factory defaults. I re-installed the Wheezy OS onto the SD card but it still seems to remember the MySQL software that I installed yesterday. The MySQL software cannot be found on the SD Card, so I'm wondering if it's stored elsewhere?

I cannot access the terminal because it will not accept my password.

There are either too many possible answers, or good answers would be too long for this format. Please add details to narrow the answer set or to isolate an issue that can be answered in a few paragraphs. If this question can be reworded to fit the rules in the help center, please edit the question.

No, everything is stored on SD. Maybe the rewrite of the SD card did not go well. (if under linux, after writing the img file, try a sync command to be sure that all data has been written, that might still reside in the buffers) –  ikku Dec 27 '12 at 17:00
