Raspberry Pi Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for users and developers of hardware and software for Raspberry Pi. It's 100% free, no registration required.

my RPi is up from a month. Last 2-3 weeks i've only made the updates....and suddenly today i can't login via ssh. I get following:

$ ssh pi@raspberry
Connection to raspberry closed by remote host.
Connection to raspberry closed.

I have no idea, what is happend. Any ideas how to detect/solve the problem without restart and without display :)?

edit: i've connected a display, to see what is wrong and imho doesn't look pretty good :( i think, i must restart....here some pics:

tty1

This was on the first tty...so my idea was to switch to tty2 and try to login. After i entered the username, i got this:

tty2

So... I've restarted the device, fsck was started but was not successful. I've did fsck manually and now it's working again, but the uptime was lost :(

This would be better off as a edit to your question rather than as a non-answer. As it is, it's not clear what the problem was or why turning it off and on again fixed it. –  Mark Booth Feb 25 '13 at 13:26
