Dec 9, 2019 at 8:14 comment added Paolo @Fred yes I might go that path. After trying even with powerline and not succeding.
Dec 8, 2019 at 18:39 comment added Fred Maybe use a USB WiFi dongle? Some have larger antennas they may help with the spotty reception.
Nov 24, 2019 at 5:14 comment added Paolo @user96931Using a power strip would place both Pi and repeater in the same location where the reception is very spotty. Besides: The Pi is placed on the ceiling (not a regular socket) where you cant just attach a power strip. The location is an entrance hall: no floor sockets.

Nov 23, 2019 at 18:34 comment added user96931 @Paolo, you can use a power strip to connect both your RPi and a wifi repeater to wherever you get your power.
Nov 23, 2019 at 18:02 comment added Paolo I also contemplated to install an external antenna on my router, but i couldn't find any hacks on that model.
Nov 23, 2019 at 18:00 comment added Paolo @CoderMike That's the point: there is only power where the Pi is. Nothing in between. I'm in the third floor, where the router is. The pi is at the entrance and there are no outlets in the staircase.
Nov 23, 2019 at 17:06 comment added CoderMike WiFi repeater doesn't have to be right next to Pi, just closer to the Pi than the nearest WiFi source.
Nov 23, 2019 at 16:53 comment added Paolo @CoderMike No power in the staircase, hence not an option. Would be nice to change the code since the priority is opening the door, the rest is a nice to have.
Nov 23, 2019 at 16:51 comment added Paolo @jsotola No errors. To make it clear whats going on.
Nov 23, 2019 at 8:21 comment added CoderMike Use a Wi-Fi repeater to boost your signal.
Nov 23, 2019 at 7:02 comment added jsotola why did you post the code? ... do you get errors?
