However, without more information about the iOS version, I tend to think that this is the cause of the trouble that OP experiments. It might not be the general case. Also, note that he does not directly access the WiFi, but communicate with the iPhone via USB, which is not exactly the same thing. | |

I've routinely done this to build demos (work) when I'm in locations that don't otherwise have a LAN that I can use. I just re-tested this feature this morning (just to make sure it hasn't changed -- it has not changed). Multiple clients can directly communicate if they are on the same iOS Personal Hotspot network (it does not impose "WiFi isolation"). I'm wondering if there was some long-ago iOS version that imposed isolation, but I've been doing this for years. (Is it possibly carrier-dependent?) | |
