I installed the HifiBerry driver as specified. The Board is recognized and the audio output works fine. Just the audio input seems to be not working. I checked if the microphone is muted but I can't recognize any bad setting. Here is the output of the amixer command:

This is the arecord -l output:

This is the command that I run for recording the audio:

  arecord -vv -d 10 -f cd -t wav -D hw:1,0 foobar.wav

With the following output:

The LED recording lamp on the Hiffyberry is continuously red but the sound level is shown to be zero.

I can't find the reason why no input can be recorded..

  • perhaps there is no microphone on the channel that you are recording

  • Microphone is attached, but there is no difference if it is plugged in or not. Is there a need to explicitly enable the channel (s. wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Advanced_Linux_Sound_Architecture last chapiter)? And if the case how?

  • @Samsky did you get it to record?
