I'm trying to put an idle Pi to good use, by running a distributed computing client on it.

Folding@home doesn't appear to be feasible.

Can anyone suggest a project which a Pi is suitable for?

(I have a Raspberry Pi 3b+)

  • Have you looked at SETI@Home or BOINC? pimylifeup.com/raspberry-pi-boinc – Dougie Aug 31 at 16:01
  • Thank you Dougie. I'll check it out. – Jay K Sep 2 at 3:31
  • I notice that my question received a down-vote. Is this a bad question, and if so, how could it be improved? – Jay K Sep 2 at 3:32
  • I think someone didn't understand what you were asking about. Remember "distributed" could mean running one workload among a cluster of Raspberries. – Dougie Sep 2 at 6:55

Have you looked at SETI@Home with BOINC? https://pimylifeup.com/raspberry-pi-boinc that has some details of how to get started with the BOINC stuff. BOINC has a few other projects you can run on a Raspberry (ARM processor) apart from SETI@Home.
