This question already has an answer here:

I'm trying to ssh into my rpi from outside of my network but it is not working. I am using ssh username@raspbarypi to try and get in but no luck. I have also tried to use the IP address like so ssh 192.168.x.xxx. If I'm connected to my network this way works just fine. My rpi is connected to my home wifi and im connected to a phone hot spot I wonder if using a hot spot is the problem. Is there a certain way to ssh outside of the network? Thanks for the help.

the IP address doesn't work because it is a private IP address and not internet routable. The hostname won't work without DNS and port forwarding. I also would not suggest allowing access to your Pi from the internet as it raises several security issues. – Steve Robillard Sep 23 at 2:51
