I installed OpenVPN on my raspberry pi 3b+, I had some problems while trying to connect to the VPN server I tried some solutions after that the terminal on the raspberry pi changed its name.

I reboot the Pi and suddenly I got into a GUI interface asking for Password I've tried my own password and many more nothing worked.

then I took the sd card out connect it to ubuntu machine, and now I found out that the folder Home which has Pi folder is empty and all my 6-month work was saved there so, please I need help to recover my files or fix this issue.

Gut feel is you have been hacked BUT not knowing what you did at I tried some solutions after that the terminal on the raspberry pi changed its name. it's a guess. I would make a full backup or three (at byte level) of that SD before you try anything else if that is seriously your only backup and look for a file recovery tool that can handle the ext4 partition on the card. Test using a copy card first. Having to vote close due to lack of info - please detail what you did so folk can help. – user115418 Nov 13 '20 at 18:07
