I'm trying to connect the MAX98357A Adafruit board to a rpi Zero W.

I've followed their documentation for installing and testing it. The installation went ok with no errors but at the test i got no sound, the speaker connected to it reproduce nothing ( i've tested the speaker separately and works ) but only a really low noise that is caused ( i think ) from a 0.2V current that constantly exits from the board.

  • Amp Vin to Raspbery Pi 5V
  • Amp GND to Raspbery Pi GND
  • Amp DIN to Raspbery Pi #21
  • Amp BCLK to Raspbery Pi #18
  • Amp LRCLK to Raspbery Pi #19

Listed audio boards

pi@raspberrypi:~ $ aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: sndrpihifiberry [snd_rpi_hifiberry_dac], device 0: HifiBerry DAC HiFi pcm5102a-hifi-0 [HifiBerry DAC HiFi pcm5102a-hifi-0]
  Subdevices: 0/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

All the tests with the following cmds fails ( so nothing is given as output while the test runs ). The volume is up to 100 ( adjusted with alsamixer ).

$ speaker-test -c2
$ speaker-test -c2 --test=wav -w /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav
