I would like to use an RS-485 transceiver (e.g. SN65176BD) with my Raspberry Pi 3, to communicate on a network operating at 10 Mbit/s (a common speed for RS-485 networks).

Using an unmodified Raspberry Pi OS installation, the PL011 UART appears to be capped to 3 MBit/s (I can’t use the mini-UART as it doesn’t support parity checking at the hardware level).

Is there a way to reconfigure the PL011 UART to allow for 10 MBit/s? I found some information suggesting the peripheral clock frequency needs to be adjusted, but I couldn’t figure out exactly what needs to be done?
