I currently have my RPi 3B setup as an access point using a USB WiFi adapter with the USB id:

Bus 001 Device 004: ID 148f:5572 Ralink Technology, Corp. RT5572 Wireless Adapter

I am using the following /etc/hostapd.conf configuration:

interface=wlan2
hw_mode=a
channel=0
macaddr_acl=0
ieee80211d=1
ieee80211n=1
country_code=DE
wmm_enabled=1
ssid=simple_network
auth_algs=1
wpa=2
wpa_passphrase=simple_password
wpa_key_mgmt=WPA-PSK
rsn_pairwise=CCMP

When I download/upload data from/to the raspberry, I max out at 2.4MB/s, which is fairly slow. I have tried changing the settings, but I never get over 2.4MB/s. So, what could be the problem? Can I change some setting, or is that the best one can expect from the Pi? Is there an adapter that can get over 20 MBit?
