I just bought an Uctronics 3.5" LCD display for my Pi 3 model B. It is beautiful, it is bright… And it comes with an onboard fan which is HORRIBLY noisy. It rattles. Obviously defective.

Well, if I can't work around it, I need to return the display, but first… Fellow users, do you believe this display can be successfully operated without the fan? If I just unplugged the fan? Would I need to operate at low brightness? Or is it really more an issue of cooling the pi in that confined space?

My application is not at all computationally demanding, and operating at low brightness would be quite acceptable.
