I'm trying to install Ubuntu Server (64-bit) on a Raspberry PI 4B. I've created an image with the Raspberry Pi Imager, with a user/password and SSH enabled. The cloud-init script fails when trying to add the user:

Any hints to what I do wrong?

  • "Created" an image? I'm not sure you can do that using the Raspberry Pi Imager. Do you mean you tried to flash an image you created? Or did you use the configuration on the Raspberry Pi Imager to do an unattended installation? Aug 25 at 13:11
  • I used the Imager to download, configure and flash an image onto an SD card to use in an Raspberry Pi

  • Have you possibly tried reflashing the SD card with Ubuntu again? Aug 29 at 11:42
  • The SD card had been used before, can that be a problem?

  • No it shouldn't be an issue. Aug 30 at 12:24
