From my Raspberry Pi 2, I can't connect to my wifi college: sudo ifup wlan0 returns:

And lsmod:

So it seems that my RPi detected my wifi dongle with success.

These are my /etc/network/interfaces:

# Loopback network interface
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

# auto eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp

auto wlan0
allow-hotplug wlan0
iface wlan0 inet dhcp

pre-up wpa_supplicant -B -Dwext -iwlan0 -c /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf -f /var/log/wpa_supplicant.log
post-down killall -q wpa_supplicant
iface default inet dhcp

And my /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf:

ctrl_interface=DIR=/var/run/wpa_supplicant GROUP=netdev
update_config=1

network={
    ssid="wifiname"
    scan_ssid=1

    eap=PEAP
    key_mgmt=WPA-EAP
    pairwise=CCMP
    auth_alg=OPEN
    phase2="auth=MSCHAPV2"
}

iwconfig wlan0:

If my wifi dongle is detected, maybe I'm mistaken about the configuration.

My college's wifi security is WPA/WPA2, EAP-PEAP, MSCHAPV2.

What am I doing wrong?

Edit 1: added infos about iwconfig wlan0 and ifconfig wlan0.

Edit 2: tried to execute ~ $ wpa_supplicant -dd -B -i wlan0 -c /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf, it says :

  • I find using wicdcurses is much easier. It also reconnect to WiFi much better. I never got supplicant to work properly for my self. – Piotr Kula May 13 '15 at 11:08
  • can you run wpa_supplicant without -B? I'm confused as to why it's not showing which line it can't read... Also: run ls -ltr /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf to check permissions – Doug Edey May 13 '15 at 11:16
  • @DougEdey let me edit my question in order to make my answer more readable. – elmazzun May 13 '15 at 11:19
  • @DougEdey calling wpa_supplicant without -B returns a huge amounts of lines, I could pass them through a pastebin. @ppumkin I want to get it right with wpa_supplicant :) – elmazzun May 13 '15 at 11:31

    So the pastebin implies that you're being rejected. askubuntu.com/questions/422714/… This isn't a RPi specific question however, you'd be better off in a linux/wifi stackexchange. – Doug Edey May 13 '15 at 14:48

Just a suggestion, but I recently discovered wicd-curses, which I've found to be more intuitive to work with than editing the various config files. It's kind of nicely in between a desktop GUI and editing config files.
