My goal is to detect if there is an object in a picture. To do this, I'm using OpenCV on my Pi, and functions like Gaussian/Canny. I am unable to do this, either I detect an object when there is not, or I don't detect an object when there is one.

I just want to know if there is object in the picture or not. I don't specially need the location. For example with these two pictures.

    Which 2 pictures? – Quintin Balsdon Aug 10 '17 at 10:51

Shouldn't you be asking this in the Stack Overflow community under the opencv tag? You're question has nothing to do with the actual rapberry pi, just with opencv development. This community is meant for raspberry specific questions (ex. you have a problem connecting the pi camera in opencv) so this questions doesn't belong here. – FFY00 Aug 10 '17 at 17:37
