When I add the following line :

dtoverlay=gpio-shutdown

to config.txt in Raspbian (tested with Stretch), I can shut down by using a button to momentarily short GPIO pin 5 and 6 (GPIO 3 and GND).

The same does not work in LibreELEC 8.2.4, OpenElec 8.0.4 and OSMC 20180316 on Raspberry Pi, although the gpio-shutdown.dtbo exists there in the overlays folder, too.

What would I have to configure in LibreELEC, OpenElec, OSMC, ... to make this work ?

  • Get the maintainers to upgrade to the latest firmware. You could try yourself with sudo apt-get install raspberrypi-bootloader raspberrypi-kernel if these are in the repository. – Milliways Apr 9 '18 at 0:03
