I have a minimalistic buildroot build on RPi2 and I was using the serial on PuTTY (UART pins connected via USB) to log in as root. However, I don't see an login prompt on my monitor when I connect using HDMI. I know the HDMI port is up because I see my monitor wake up from sleep (indicated by monitor's LED).

My cmdline.txt:

root=/dev/mmcblk0p2 rootwait console=tty1,115200 console=ttyAMA0,115200 quiet logo.nologo loglevel=1

My config.txt:

# To use an external initramfs file
#initramfs rootfs.cpio.gz

# Disable overscan assuming the display supports displaying the full resolution
# If the text shown on the screen disappears off the edge, comment this out disable_overscan=1

# How much memory in MB to assign to the GPU on Pi models having
# 256, 512 or 1024 MB total memory gpu_mem_256=100 gpu_mem_512=100 gpu_mem_1024=100

boot_delay=0 initial_turbo=10 disable_splash=1

temp_limit=80 force_turbo=1 hdmi_ignore_cec_init=1

arm_freq=1000 core_freq=500 sdram_freq=500 over_voltage=2 enable_uart=1

The pertinent lines in my /etc/inittab:

# Put a getty on the serial port
console::respawn:/sbin/getty -L  console 0 vt100 # GENERIC_SERIAL
tty1::respawn:/sbin/getty -L  tty1 0 vt100 # HDMI console

What place else should I look into? Any help is much appreciated!
