Formerly "while1", mostly active on the Electrical Engineering stack exchange.

Circuit design, embedded guy, constant tinkerer and inventor. Cut teeth on VLSI making very fast ALUs and high-speed analog IOs. Did a brief stint in firmware to run spinning rust (hard drives). Currently working in the race to build the world's first exa-scale supercomputer.

I enjoy challenging circuit design work that pushes the design envelope in some way. I enjoy working the boundaries between hardware and software.

I love coding in many forms. Firmware, scripts, web development.

I am fascinated by the world of manufacturing. I read prolifically on the subject of hardware startups and bringing products to market. I love simple, functional, and aesthetic designs and am constantly thinking about how to make such products better and cheaper.
