Having lived in the very first building built in all of the "Amana Villages" see wiki "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Community_of_True_Inspiration" This is a post & beam building, hand adzed Iowa red oak posts & beams & black walnut studs. Built-in the summer of 1854 as a shelter for the first community members, as they had just purchased the land west of Iowa City, in Iowa County.

Local historic preservation planning & zoning district (the only one in Iowa, see Iowa Code 303.41). I was on the Historic Preservation Commission - the local CLG for 13 years, 10 as chair. I was also on the board of directors of the precursor to the current organization https://www.preservationiowa.org/. I worked closely with staff from the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO), National Trust for Historic Preservation.

Oh, I raised 3 boys to adulthood, as productive members of society.
